The winning numbers in Tuesday night's mega-Mega Millions lottery drawing were selected at 11 p.m.
Here are the lucky numbers: 23, 32, 33, 39 and 43.
The Mega Ball was 8.
The jackpot is estimated at $206 million, which gets slashed to a still-whopping $151.9 million for players who choose the cash option.
Players have failed to snag all six numbers in the 43-state lottery since Nov. 1, when Charles Hairston of Paso Robles, Calif. won $78 million.
In the last drawing, which took place Friday night, the top prize was valued at $173 million, but no one matched all six numbers, pushing the jackpot up to $206 million.
In Friday's drawing, 31 tickets across the nation matched the first five numbers, but not the Mega Ball, including three tickets from New Jersey. Each of those ticket holders won a prize of $250,000.
The $206 million jackpot in Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing is a lot of money, but you do not actually get that much.
You have a choice of taking the one-time cash option -- or lump-sum payment -- of $151.9 million before taxes, or you can receive 26 annual payments of about $7.9 million pre-tax.
The federal government takes 25% of the jackpot for income taxes, while the state of Michigan gets 4.35%.
If you take the cash option, it's about $107 million after taxes. The annuity, once taxes are taken out, would pay almost $5.6 million a year for 26 years.
If you total it all up, you end up getting almost $40 million more if you take the annuity.
Tuesday night's Mega Millions jackpot is up to $206 million and has people across our area hoping it will bring a great start to their new year.
"I would move to Beverly Hills, get a Beamer," said Upper West Side resident Johnny Perez. "All the cars I ever wanted in my life."
The jackpot has been building since Nov. 1. There were no winners during Friday's drawing, bringing the total to a whopping $206 million.
Simos Papilias of Toronto, who's visiting New York City, says he's tempted to purchase a ticket.
"You're looking at $100 million after the U.S IRS is done with it," he said. "Which is still more than enough for this cat. I would still take it."
It seems that almost everybody who has purchased a ticket believes that they have a winner.
"I have the winning ticket, see," said a laughing Alvern King of Brownsville.
"I'm feeling really lucky today. It's a Quick Pick, I have to hit one of them," added another man.
And one man who knows that the odds are stacked against him told CBS2′s Kathryn Brown that he was playing anyway.
"You're talking way too much money to not take a chance," he said.
